san luis obispo, california wedding

This blog is long overdue… almost 4 and half months overdue! You know the normal excuses.. life gets busy, and things like blogging get pushed to the back. But one of my new year’s goals for 2023 is to make blogging a priority, and with one month already over this year, I gotta kick my butt into gear! So today is the day we start.

And boy are we starting with a goodie. This wedding… y’all, I could talk about this wedding for hours. It was the most perfect day, with the most wonderful, down-to-earth people around. I want to start off by saying thank you for Hanna and Joe for inviting me into this space, and giving me the opportunity to be apart of something as special and significant as this day. They flew me in from Hawaii… well, let me rewind and give some background on how I met Hanna and Joe. This past January, so about a year ago exactly, I messaged Hanna on Instagram after following each-other for years, and asked if they would be down to model for me while I was in town! So we met up in Malibu, and from my perspective, hit it off immediately, and I loved them right off the bat. Fast forward, they ended up loving the photos and used them as their engagement pictures, and eventually she asked if I wanted to be their wedding photographer - it just made sense. So, here comes September, I fly out of Hawaii to San Luis Opisbo for the weekend (quick trip). While I’m in the SFO airport, I’m quickly getting ready, changing clothes, all the things (you ever done that?), to be ready for the rehearsal dinner that starts as soon as I’m arriving into SLO. I show up, and immediately am like wow, this is perfect. Guests are giving speeches, tears are being shed, and as cliche as it sounds, love is in the air. Hanna and Joe end up introducing me to some of their friends, and the girl that I’m rooming with for the weekend, because side note: I get to stay on the property with them and their family and it was one of the biggest blessings. Seriously.

Fast forward one more time, and it’s wedding day. We all get a good night’s sleep, and wake up and drink some coffee with the fam, on the porch. I sit in and listen on memories being reminisced, and then a few of her friends invited me to go get brunch in town with them before I start working! Of course I said yes. Brunch is great, we go back and we all start getting ready to get to work (in the best way possible). One really cool detail about this day is everything as far as the invitations, to the florals, to the bar at the reception is all helped and done by friends. So every one that got to be involved in helping this wedding possible was someone who knew Hanna best, which made the day all that more special.

So, we get our wedding day outfits on, I start taking pictures, getting all the details ready, which you’ll see here:

Something Hanna really wanted to reflect through her wedding is simplicity and allow the true meaning to the day be the focus, which in my eyes, I truly appreciated. All of the details were well thought out, yet so relaxed.. like for example, her wedding ring was one that a company sent her for a collab! Like in that way, it was the most chill, and the focus wasn’t on the extravagant things but on celebration and love.

Let’s talk wedding party! They had people fly in from all over the world - New Zealand, England, and who knows where else - just to celebrate this covenant between them two. If that isn’t love….

Now, let me show you the ceremony… the only word I have to describe it is “tears”. SO many genuine tears were shed

Post ceremony, I steal the love birds away…

Now that they’ve gotten a moment away, we slip back to the party!

Everyone is hanging out, drinkin’ their kombucha on tap, and looking like paid models… like seriously, it felt like a fashion show, now presenting to you:
